Our History
Saunders Robinson Brown’s origins date back to 1998, when Geoff Saunders commenced his own sole practice as Geoff Saunders Business & Property Law. Geoff had previously practiced for 23 years in Saunders & Co, his family firm, which had commenced in 1923.
Geoff’s sole practice grew dramatically in a short period of time. Lee Robinson joined Geoff in 2001 to consolidate their legal practices into a new entity called Saunders Robinson. Lee’s strong general and commercial practice and his interest in sports law, was a natural fit with Geoff’s established practice.
Saunders Robinson grew significantly again in October 2007. The firm merged with William Brown Law in Rangiora to form Saunders Robinson Brown. The firm now operates from both centres, with seven Partners in the City Office and two Partners based in the firm’s Rangiora Office. William (Bill) continues to be based at Rangiora with the ability to offer enhanced support to the firm’s clients.
Saunders Robinson Brown has grown from strength to strength in the last ten years, achieving its objective of providing sound advice in the areas of commercial law and other specialities. The sports law area has continued to grow and the firm now acts for many sporting organisations and individual sports people from different codes. These specialities are underpinned by a strong general practice, including residential property, estates, trusts, employment law and related areas of practice.
The core philosophy of the firm has remained unchanged even though the firm has experienced exceptional growth since 1998. People are at the heart of the business and the firm works hard to develop and strengthen client relationships. A corner stone of the practice is the provision of efficient personal service and advice tailored to each client’s needs.
